Gas prices are rising all over the US and it went up 12 cents here in Raleigh. Although I got lucky an hour ago when I still found $1.81 a gallon. I put 8 gallons in my car. I know $2 a gallon is not expensive for gas by my standards but it's the fact that it went up that gets me. I would like it to not go up too far cuz I am planning a road trip to the DC area on April 5th. Then a drive back home April 7th.

Gas always goes up in the warmer months, because there is less of a demand for home heating fuel, and warm gas has higher volume than cold gas, so it's harder to ship, etc. Don't expect prices to go back down again until next winter.

It's always been the same way since I can remember: the 9/10 at the end of gas prices. Like 1.99 9/10. What is with the 9/10? Why don't they round it up to the nearest cent and stop playing games? I heard it was a ploy to make you feel like you're paying less. How stupid are we? They should just round it up to the nearest cent and leave it at that. What do you think?

I always heard that the pump does round it off to the next number as it pumps your gas. 1.50/99 becomes 1 51. Every ten gallons the pump gains one penny. Figure that up for ten or twelve pumps at the end of the day, for a week, for a year and it adds up to a pretty penny for the gas station. I have never received a gas pump receipt that reads $27.00/99

It is a scary scenario that you don't hear much about lately. But some are predicting gas prices to skyrocket again. And this time, the majority of people wouldn't be able to afford any gasoline at all. Would it be enough to bring the whole country to its knees? Would there be riots? Has OPEC been strictly ordered to temporarily keep prices at a manageable level to prevent civil unrest? How far would OPEC really go?

the strategic oil reserves are 98-99% full . the oil storage tanks in okla. are close to capacity , supertankers sit at anchor . the speculative run up last year led to mass over production from wells . prices should stay low till next fall . due to the way previous administration calculated inflation ( bush omitted food , fuel , and housing ) the true inflation rate will continue in the double digits with a possible hyper rate in '10 . food and job riots to follow . soylent green is people .

Does anyone know how to figure how much the gas will cost for a 98' Lincoln Navigator traveling from Chicago to Jacksonville, Florida?

approx 1000 miles and approx 10 mpg for your car at $2 a gallon
$200 each way
