Today Costco Fredricksburg/Spotsylvania VA, I used my BofA debit card and got $69.00 gas, Costco also placed and ADDITIONAL $100.00 hold on my account, thus we could not get lunch! It has been over 7 hours and still the $100.00 hold is on my bank account. How about you?
this has been standard fpractice for some time. They started doing this right around the time of Katrina. When the authorization goes through assuring the funds they don't know how much gas you will pump in, the banks all have different figures, $75,$100, $150.Your money won't show back up until the transaction is settled, can be 24 hrs or more. To get around it either go to the ATM and buy your gas with cash or don't pay at the pump, go inside and buy a specific amount of gas, don't do a fill up, like $20 or $30, then an open authorization isn't used.

Use a credit card as opposed to a debit card for gas transactions, this is a common practice at all gas stations.
