I live in new york city and i want to ask my friend to drive to speonk. I was wondering how much gas on average for an average car you need to travel 150 miles and how much would it cost, if gas price was around 4-5 per gal?
my 1970 ford f 250 gets 10 mpg and takes over $75 DOLLARS TO FILL UP , averaging about 60 dollars for the trip you mentioned.
My 2002 KIA spectra however gets 30 mpg and takes about 40 dollars to fill up. an average cost of $22.0 bucks. forgive the fuzzy math.. but 50 bucks and a favor should get you anywhere you want to go within your 150 mile range.
Good Luck.

That depends on how big of a tank you have and how many mpg you get. However, you SHOULD be able to get more than 150 miles per tank.

$0 if you have a fast car or are an accomplished pickpocket. Thank you, Mr. Bill Freeman for this new tank of gas.

Assuming gas mileage is 20 mpg, which is probably a bit low, you will burn 7.5 gallons which will set you back $37.50 @ $5 per gallon, which may be more than you’ll pay. Plan on carrying about $40 for gas.
