Well, in Austin- our state signs said “Do not travel to Houston or Beaumont- no fuel in or on route”…so I think they are almost out- and why abuse the ones who just went thru a hurricane. Majority of the people do not have power, or water, and will run out of food.
Gas prices went up b/c the refineries are without power (or were) and they had to shut down all the rigs in the Gulf.

Under a disaster declaration prices for all commodities are frozen at the pre-disaster prices to prevent price gouging victims. And, even though you don’t really want an explanation or answer but to rather rant, the closing of the refineries does have a definite effect on the supplies to other regions.
Rather than complaining, why not be part of the solution and volunteer assistance to the people in Texas who are undergoing much more extreme circumstances than higher prices at the pump.

It isn't just the refineries. There have also been issues with getting resupply to gas stations given the condition of the roads and other factors. It should return to normal soon enough.

No one will take you seriously until you know the difference between “are” and “our.”
